EveryonePrint achieves ISO/IEC 27001 certification

CIOs are under constant pressure to balance the demand for the highest levels of security with the need to manage costs. Now, after achieving ISO27001 certification, EveryonePrint offers a reliable, simple and hassle-free way to migrate print services to the cloud.

Although IT departments recognise that maintaining an on-premises print solution is costly and labour-intensive, they often hold onto their own servers because it helps them feel in control; their team knows the infrastructure and does its best to manage security. So while the cloud may be a temptingly cost-effective and labour-saving alternative, they worry about relinquishing control – especially of security. And yet the security level they achieve may not be particularly high.

Unfortunately, according to Quocirca, print is considered one of the top security risks in any organisation. 66% of organisations say that print is one of their top 5 risks [1].

While a range of vendors offer cloud-based print services (perhaps hosted by Amazon or Microsoft, for example), the security those vendors offer can be extremely questionable. That’s why, when organisations go out to tender, they must invest a huge amount of time and effort in scrutinising each vendor’s security protocols. CIOs can be left feeling exposed, and wary of migrating to the cloud.

However, EveryonePrint has now become the world’s first cloud-based print management company to achieve ISO/IEC 27001 security certification. This offers instant reassurance for CIOs, de-risks the procurement process, and makes system administration considerably faster, simpler and cheaper.

Print security breaches happen too often

Security breaches can result from malicious attacks, negligence or accident. In 2019, Quocirca found that 60% of organisations had experienced at least one print-related data loss in the previous year [2].

“11% of all security incidents [are] related to print infrastructure… attempts to mitigate print risks lack maturity, with only 27% of businesses achieving print-security leader status.”

The security we offer our customers

Our users benefit from full data encryption thanks to the highest levels of security between endpoints (including encryption of data at rest). Built-in auditing helps customers to proactively protect their data, track documents, manage risk, and achieve compliance. Role-based permissions can be achieved through integration with cloud-based authentication providers such as Okta, and customers implementing a zero-trust network can use their own certificate infrastructure.

Our customers have immediate access to all the information they need about ready-made security protocols, our documentation, and our procedures in the unlikely event of a breach. Any breach can immediately be traced to its point of origin. They will also find it much easier to achieve GDPR compliance.

And if our customers are themselves responding to a tender, and are asked about their own print security, they can provide the highest levels of reassurance – which could help them win business and become more profitable.

What it took to achieve ISO27001

It took us around 18 months to meet the ISO’s stringent requirements – a significant investment, but one we were happy to make in order to protect our customers. This involved aligning our entire company around the need to meet and maintain ISO27001. We carried out additional software development plus a huge process around procedures and documentation, and we retrained every member of our organisation.

We will be audited regularly to ensure our continued adherence to the ISO’s exacting requirements. We’ve always run our own internal checks as well as commissioning external ‘white hat’ attacks, in order to maintain high levels of security.

It’s all proof of our level of commitment to protecting our customers’ information.
